Hunger goes once you eat; anger cools once you vent it. Greed alone is never spent

"If you're hungry, you eat and the hunger goes. If you're angry, you strike back and it subsides. But the greedy, even having conquered the whole world, are never satisfied — however much they take, it's never enough."
Notice how ordinary urges behave. You get hungry, you eat, and hunger is gone. You flare up, hit back, and the anger lets go. It seems every desire works this way: satisfy it, and it quiets. Greed is the exception. Even a conquered world won't still it — take all you like, it stays hungry. Narada Muni named kings, lawyers, scholars, presidents — all of them fell. Not from want, but one thought: "my position isn't big enough, I need a bigger one." The lack isn't in the sum but in the appetite, which nothing outside can close. The way out is santoṣa, contentment with what comes on its own. Not resignation but skill: the chase for "more" stops and the mind is finally here — free to live and chant.
Before reaching for a bigger position, ask: is this a hunger anything outside can fill?
