"After thousands and millions of lifetimes wandering through this world, a person finally becomes detached from everything and then becomes liberated and enters into the void. Game over. That's an anticlimax. … We want music and dance."
We often picture the spiritual path this way: the further you go, the less remains. Give up taste, give up music, give up attachments — and at the end dissolve into pure light. Test that ending with one word: game over. Millions of lifetimes of wandering, everything let go — and the person enters the void. No colour, no music, no love. The word nirvāṇa itself means "a flame blown out." That is a film cut just before the resolution. Yet beauty, music and closeness are not here by accident: their origin is in God's own realm, and here we see only their shadows. They hurt because here everything is temporary: you love someone, and death comes. So what must be overcome is the earthly reflection, not love.
Ask yourself: what are you walking towards — an empty light, or a meeting?
