"All inner work happens at the junction of life and death. When you pray, think: this is my last moment. Without that there's no urgency — complacency creeps in."
A strange asymmetry. When we take up something worldly — study, a career, a renovation — we sensibly assume years lie ahead: mastery doesn't come in a day, there's no need to rush. And that's right. But we quietly carry the same logic into what matters most — the soul, the link with God: "I'll start when there's time; later; not today." Śrī Prem Prayojan Prabhu calls this complacency. He says all inner work happens at the junction of life and death — jīvana-sandhi. Pray as if death has already grabbed you by the hair. Not to be morbid — but to bring back the urgency that time keeps lulling to sleep. For study, a long life lies ahead. For the heart, only this moment.
For your tasks, assume years ahead. For your soul, assume this hour is the last.
