"The beauty of a person depends on how much you love them. A child is cross-eyed, yet his mother calls him Padmalochan, lotus-eyed, and sees him beautiful. Why? Because of love."
We assume beauty is a fact out there: here are the features, you can measure them. Śrī Prem Prayojan Prabhu says the opposite: beauty lives in the eye of the one who looks, and it depends on love. Look at a mother. Her child is cross-eyed — a stranger won't hide it — yet she calls him padma-locana, lotus-eyed, and sees him as the most beautiful in the world. She isn't pretending; she truly sees it. Because she loves. It's the same with Krishna: Kamsa looks at Him and sees death itself, Yamaraja; while Mother Yashoda can't get enough of how beautiful He is. The very same boy — but as much love in the heart, that much beauty opens to the eye. Beauty isn't found ready-made outside: love unlocks it from within.
Want to see more beauty around you — learn to love more.
