"We are like refugees in this world … kicked out of one body, kicked out of another body, kicked out of another body, taking birth here and there … What is our home? … Who am I and why am I suffering?"
Sanatana Goswami was a learned minister — and still he came to Chaitanya admitting: "I don't even know what questions to ask." He named our condition with one exact word: refugees. We're evicted from body after body, born here and there, with no permanent home anywhere. And instead of accumulating more, he asked four simple questions: who am I? why do I suffer? what is the goal of life — sādhya — and by what method do I reach it — sādhana? Śrī Prem Prayojan Prabhu notes that he said he didn't know how to ask, and then asked the most precise questions there are. Sometimes the honest dead end — "I don't know where my home is" — isn't a failure but the first real door.
Begin with an honest question: who am I, and where is home?
