"Sukha is what happens when the citta expands in the ākāśa. A person watches a match, the mind stays on one thing for ninety minutes — and there is a feeling of ease."
For ninety minutes a person watches the ball and forgets everything: work, debts, himself. He will call it happiness — but what happened? Sanskrit answers almost technically: sukha is su-kha, "good, roomy space". The citta, consciousness, concentrated on one thing, stops darting about and expands — hence the ease. Duḥkha is the opposite: the space has contracted into stuffiness in the mind. So it was not football that gave the joy, but a gathered mind the match arranged by accident. That is why the final whistle takes it all back: the mind contracts and the person goes looking for the next fix. Śrī Prem Prayojan Prabhu says that if you concentrate the mind on Krishna every day, it expands and stays expanded.
For one round, hold the mind on one sound and do not let it go.
