"The word sat means svataḥ-siddha, self-manifest. Just as if the sun has gone down, you cannot find it with a torch. But when the sun himself appears by his own sweet will, you see him by his own illumination."
We look for God the way we look for a lost object: more books, sharper arguments — and one day we will find Him. Then discouragement: "I have neither the intelligence nor the purity for this." Śrī Prem Prayojan Prabhu moves the question. The sun has gone down — go out with the strongest torch and search the sky for it. The torch is useless: the sun is seen only by its own light. It rises by its own sweet will, and you see it by the very light it pours. The Vedas call this svataḥ-siddha, svayaṁ-prakāśa — self-manifest, self-luminous. The Name works the same way: you sound it, and He comes out to meet you. So you can begin today, with an unready mind: the dawn does not ask whether you deserve the morning.
