"Here is the EEG of a person in high anxiety — it looks like a punk rock hairstyle. And here is someone calm: the line is smooth. When the fluctuations are restrained, the seer is situated in his own nature."
Śrī Prem Prayojan Prabhu shows two pictures. In the first, the EEG of a person in high anxiety jerks in jagged spikes — "a kind of punk rock hairstyle." In the second, on a calm person it draws a smooth wave. The Yoga Sutra says that when the fluctuations of the mind are restrained, the seer is situated in his own nature. While they run, there is vrtti-sarupyam: consciousness takes their shape. Hence the familiar strangeness: you know the soul is beyond time, yet from morning on everything inside trembles over what has not happened. It is the line that trembles, and you took it for yourself. The lecture offers sadhana, the practice of equilibrium: steady the line, and the one no wave touches becomes visible.
Steady your breath and the line inside — see the one watching it.
