"People look for love in a dating app. But whoever they meet is deficient: that person is also looking for something they don't have. Two empty people cling to each other."
You scroll through profiles, and each one carries the same hope: this person will finally fill me. Śrī Prem Prayojan Prabhu answers simply: whoever you meet is looking for exactly the same thing — that person is deficient too. And when two deficient people come together, each draws from the other what he lacks; the lecture calls such a relationship vampire-like. Hence the familiar barter: you scratch my back, I scratch yours — a deal in which both come up short. His turn is unexpected. Love, he says, does not even begin until a person is satisfied within: ātmārāma — one who draws joy from the self. Only then is there something to share, since to love means to please the other completely.
Before the date, ask yourself: am I coming to share — or to collect?
