"'I am not preaching, I am not doing anything. Behind the curtain Gaura-Nitāi are dancing, their foot dust is going here and there, and people touched by it become Krishna conscious.' Whatever you do with kartṛtva-abhimāna is karma, not bhakti."
A reporter once asked Gurudev: "With so many disciples, isn't that a heavy burden?" He replied: "I'm not doing anything. I simply walk back and forth, while behind the scenes Gaura-Nitai are dancing, and the dust from Their lotus feet falls on people — that's how they attain Krishna consciousness." Remember this picture behind your beads. Whatever you do with kartṛtva-abhimāna, with the feeling "I am the one chanting, this is my credit," turns into karma, not bhakti.
Take yourself off the stage. They are the ones dancing.
