"Svataḥ-siddha means self-existent: you're not creating the name when you chant it, the name existed before the universe. Svayaṁ-prakāśa means self-revealing — just like the sun: you can only find the sun when the sun himself rises by his own rays."
Don't think that you are the one producing the Name with your voice and tongue. Jiva Gosvami says the Name is svataḥ-siddha — it already exists, by itself, prior to you. And svayam-prakāśa — it reveals itself. You cannot find the sun in the night sky with a flashlight; it opens itself only when it rises by its own rays. So it is with the Holy Name: your task is not to "switch it on" by effort, but to wait humbly on the shore for the dawn, while chanting.
Today stop squeezing the Name out — simply sound it, and wait for it to rise on its own.
