"If you think that the chanting of the Holy Name is equal to dharma, making fire sacrifices, renunciation, auspicious activities, building hospitals, planting trees, digging wells — this is an offense to the Holy Name."
Don't reassure yourself that your rounds belong to a well-ordered life, alongside fasting, service and charity. Gurudev lists it plainly: dharma, fire sacrifices, renunciation, hospitals, planted trees, dug wells — to count the Name as equal to any of these is already an offense. Ajamila knew something of bhakti, but he placed it below ritual — and years of uttering the names Vishnu and Narayan bore no fruit. An auspicious deed is born in this world; the Name is Krishna Himself come into it, and the two never sit on one scale.
Before your round today set everything else aside — you are going to meet Krishna.
