""I am the winner!" cries Sridama. "No, I am the winner!" "How are you the winner?" "Because my nose was spicy!""
Krishna romps with the cowherd boys: wrestling, climbing trees, swimming in the river. He is Ajita, the Undefeatable, who cannot be conquered — yet his friends conquer him easily. Losing to Sridama, by their bargain he sets him on his shoulders and carries him, while Sridama orders: "Carry me smoothly, Krishna, evenly — as if I held a brimful cup of water, and let not a drop spill over." One day the boys — four or five years old, naked in the dust of Gokula — made a ring: "Let's see Krishna wrestle Sridama!" They grappled and rolled, and Sridama threw Krishna on his back and leapt on top: "I am the winner! I am the winner!" Krishna stands up: "No, I am the winner!" "How are you the winner?" "Because my nose was spicy!" "That does not count — I won, I was on top of you." "No, I won!" Then Sridama scooped a handful of dust and flung it at Krishna; Krishna flung it back — and in a moment the whole gang showers one another with dust. The Supreme Lord, whom no one can defeat, squabbles over "who pinned whom" like any ordinary little boy.
Chant the Name freely, as to a friend — tumble with him in the dust.
