"Honey is sweet by itself, holding the flavour of a hundred flowers — but ghee no one eats alone."
Radhika explains to her sakhis why her jealous anger is just. Imagine: you prepare a wonderful meal — so many dishes, everything fresh, warm, ready right on time — but your beloved does not come, and goes to another house where there is only dry, day-old roti. Would you not be hurt? So it is with me: my sakhis and I adorned the kunj for so many pastimes, yet Krishna left it all for tasteless dalliance with Chandravali. And here is the subtlety. Honey is sweet by itself — it holds the flavour of a hundred flowers, one eats it alone. But ghee, no one eats ghee by itself: it must be mixed with rice or something else, or it is bland. Such is Chandravali's love: it gives Krishna no flavour until other emotions are mixed in. But Radhika's love is pure honey, full in itself. And so Radhika sinks into maan — and this very quarrel serves to make the joy of reunion blaze brighter: without separation, meeting never ripens to its highest sweetness.
The Name is sweet by itself: mix nothing foreign into it.
