What is praṇaya? It is when two have grown so together that every "mine" and "yours" dissolves: one breath, one body, one mind — even the clothing shared. Śrī Prem Prayojan Prabhu laughs: let a stranger walk up to you on the street and offer, "Would you like to wear my shirt?" — you would refuse. But two close girlfriends? At once, without a second thought, they start wearing each other's clothes. So it is in Vraja: once Radha and Krishna delighted in pastimes within the kunja, then came out, and Radhika rested her head on Krishna's shoulder. He wore his yellow pitambara. And Radhika, brimming with joy, tears streaming from sheer happiness, reaches over without the least hesitation, takes the end of his pitambara, and wipes her face with it. Not a trace of "but this is yours": for praṇaya nothing is another's. And there in the forest, weary, she tells him without fear, "I can walk no further — you carry me wherever you wish." Just as the rays of the moon remove the fear of darkness, so praṇaya removes all fear.
