"O my beloved! Wherever I turn, wherever I go, you are always there, blocking my path."
Her friends advise Radhika: write Krishna a love letter — but in such a way that it bears no name of yours. Radhika is betrothed to another, and this is Vedic culture: if the letter is found, there must be room to deny everything. And Radhika writes: "O my beloved! Wherever I turn, wherever I go, you are always there, blocking my path". So it is when love is intense: one begins to see Krishna everywhere, wherever one looks. The sakhi carries the letter into the forest and hands it to Krishna, who sits with Madhumangala and asks: you are a brahmin, read it out. "Wherever I look, you block my path", the friend reads aloud. Krishna hears it — and inwardly he rejoices: "Not only do I love this princess — she loves me too! Now I know for certain". Yet he shows nothing, and resolves to test her: "Ah, how ill-behaved you girls are! I am a most religious person; I never look at or touch any woman, even in my dreams. I cannot accept this. Take the letter back". And the sakhi, heartbroken, returns to Radhika with nothing.
Love the Name so that you see Krishna wherever you look.
