A Sharad full-moon midnight over the Yamuna. Krishna sounds his flute — and Radhika comes to meet him. And here is the wonder: when the two of them meet, at every moment Radhika looks newer and newer to Krishna — as if he had never seen her before. And Krishna looks ever newer to her — as if she too were seeing him for the first time. Though they meet every single day, every moment, it is as if they forget, and all of it begins anew. We are used to thinking of God as all-knowing — a finished, completed product: he already knows everything. But here Krishna and Radhika are two students in the school of love: day by day, moment by moment, they learn of love more and more. And the sakhis never tire of watching these two — it is their joy to see the pair learning love ever more deeply. Yet God is no finished product. He is unlimited — and himself grows in love from day to day. And that school of love is called Vrindavan.
