"Only one glance. Krishna looked at Radhika, Radhika at Krishna — and at once deep love blazed up in their hearts."
Krishna is just leaving childhood behind — still only a boy — when one day he notices a young princess in the distance. Near Nandagram lies the village of Varsana, and the king there, Vrishabhanu Maharaj, has a daughter — her name is Radhika. And this boy has seen that princess. Only one glance — only one single glance: Krishna looked at Radhika, and Radhika at Krishna. And in that very instant deep love awoke in both hearts, and with every moment it grew — grew and grew — until it became unlimited. "I cannot sleep at night, cannot eat, cannot forget this beautiful boy", Radhika thinks. So her friend Vishakha paints a portrait of Krishna and hands her the picture. Radhika gazes at it and laments: "Alas, better for me to die. A chaste lady should love but one man — yet I have fallen in love with three: of one I heard but a single syllable of his name, 'Krish', and he rose up within my heart; another I knew by the sound of his flute; and now you have shown me a third — here in this painting".
Hear even one syllable of the Name, and he will rise in your heart.
