"A potter? Come to sell your cups? But there is no wedding here — we need no cups."
The war of words — a sport won only by the quickest wit. One day Radha and Krishna began a duel of words while all the sakhis and manjaris watched. And though Krishna is the all-powerful prince of Braj, Radhika defeated him. When Krishna is defeated, Radhika's sakhis grow drunk with pride: our mistress has beaten him! One night Radhika was in a kunj, the sakhis had barred the door. Krishna knocks. "Who comes in the dead of night?" — "It is I, Keshava." — "Ah, Keshava? Kesha means hair. So proud of your locks? Do you think you alone have lovely hair?" Krishna: "It is I, Chakri." But chakri means both one who holds the chakra and... a potter, who keeps a wheel. Radhika: "A potter? Come to sell your cups? But there is no wedding here — we need no cups." Whatever he says turns against him, until Krishna is spent: "O playful girl, your joking has no end!"
Chanting, join the chorus praising Radhika: the Name is her victory-song.
