"Kṛṣṇa said: oh, I cannot receive, you have defeated me. But actually Kṛṣṇa has defeated us. We were trying to get Kṛṣṇa to admit that he had done wrong — and by disappearing and reappearing, Kṛṣṇa was trying to show that our love is greater than his."
The gopīs held a trial — the kind held for a thief there is no evidence against: a hand into the pot with the snake, and let God decide. The verdict came, and it was the judges who felt guilty: why did we deal with Him so harshly, when He is soft, kind, loving? And there it came out who had defeated whom. They were working to make Him admit He was wrong — and by disappearing and reappearing He was showing that their love is greater than His. Which mood is sweeter? Then the heat left the gopīs' minds — like a wick just put out: the flame is gone, but touch it and it is still warm.
Begin your rounds by letting go of the last warm place of a grievance.
