The parama-preṣṭha-sakhīs and priya-sakhīs love Rādhā and Krishna equally — sometimes they even take Krishna's side, knowing She will be filled with regret later if She does not meet Him. But above them are the nitya-sakhīs, the mañjarīs, and in them love for Rādhikā outweighs. How is that possible? Sañcāri-bhāva is a wave in the ocean; how can the wave become greater than the ocean? Their sthāyi-bhāva is still directed to Krishna, yet love for Rādhikā pervades it completely, and kṛṣṇa-rati takes second place and nourishes that love. The wave does not swallow the ocean — it turns it over.
