Uddhava came to Vraja with a message from Krishna — and instead of the message he spoke a verse. The mercy of the rāsa-līlā, when Krishna's arms went round the necks of the cowherd girls, was never given to Lakṣmīdevī, who lives forever at His chest. It was not given to the queens of Dvārakā. It was not given to the women of the heavenly planets, whose bodies are fragrant as lotuses of themselves. So what to speak of ordinary women of this world? And before the verse Gurudeva recalled his own Gurudeva: if even the wind that touched such kathā has touched you, your life is already crowned with success.
