You cannot argue a craving for a cigarette or a coffee away. Sit with the Name — and the senses grow quiet on their own
sākṣī — свидетель: тот, кто смотрит на тело и ум со стороны, сам не вовлекаясь

"If you were previously thinking, oh, I need a cigarette or I need to drink some coffee… all the senses become calm and quiet. You no longer become dependent for your happiness on the external world, but the soul's own inner happiness is beginning to shine."
You can hardly argue with an addiction. You know about the harm, you gave yourself your word — and your hand is already reaching for the cigarette, the coffee. Reasoning is powerless: the craving lives in the senses. Try changing the place you look from. Chant the mantra for half an hour, he says, and a strange feeling of being disembodied appears. Suddenly you are the witness — sākṣī: here is the body, here is the mind with its demands, and here is you, watching it all. Then the craving fades by itself: "I need a cigarette", "I need some coffee" — whatever the addictions are, the senses become calm and quiet. Happiness stops depending on the outer world: the soul's own happiness begins to shine.
Sit half an hour with the Name and watch the craving from outside.
