"His business fails, and the family that loved him so much says: you are useless. They loved him while he was giving to them. Now he stays in the home like a pet dog: they put a plate in front of him and go."
All his life he carried it: work, money, the house — everything for his own people. Then business began to fail. At night he cannot sleep, working out where to find money; by day he hears from his family what he never heard before: "you are useless." Śrī Prem Prayojan Prabhu notes the bitterest part — they did love him, back when he was giving to them. Their hearts have not changed; the stream has dried up. Then he grows old, can hardly move, falls ill — and lives in his own home like a pet dog: everyone is busy with their own affairs, someone hurriedly sets a plate in front of him and walks out. It is told without anger at the family — they live exactly as he lived, and tomorrow they will hear the same words.
While you give, you are loved. And what remains when there is nothing left to give?
