"Ravan's advice was this: if you are going to do something auspicious, do it today, don't put it off till tomorrow, because tomorrow never comes. And if it is inauspicious, keep putting it off and think about it a hundred times."
Good intentions pile up for years: I'll start, I'll get to it, once I have time. Yet something dubious we decide the same evening. Ram once sent Lachman to the dying Ravan: ask what he learned in his life. Ravan answered: "I had a plan — a staircase to heaven, so people could walk up without all the austerities. I never got around to it; my life has passed and the chance is gone. But stealing Sita I decided and did at once — and now my kingdom is destroyed and I am dying." Delay is neither enemy nor friend: it eats the good and saves us from the bad. The only question is what you postponed. It is time to chant the Name — śubhasya śīghram, the auspicious quickly. When will I chant my rounds? Today.
Don't ask when you will start — start this round now.
