Even behind bars men laugh and make a life. And you are free — and you have lain down to die

"Wild persons living in the jungle, they want to live; they don't want to die. Even persons who have been arrested and put in a prison, they also laugh and joke and try to enjoy their life with the other prisoners."
Despair arrives quietly: a person stops seeing what to get up for. The brahmin in this story came to the end — he lay down by the road and waited to die. And then the jackal spoke. He did not console; he counted out loud. Wild people in the jungle want to live and do not want to die. Even those who have been arrested and locked up laugh and joke and enjoy their life with the other prisoners: four walls, and inside them a whole life has already taken shape. "Even I, a jackal, want to live," he says, "though worms and birds were given less than me. And they want to live too." Everyone holds on to his own narrow slice and finds something in it to be glad. But you have freedom. Why do you want to give up your life?
On your rounds, remember: even those who have a tenth of what you have still hold on to life.
