"It's only the ego which is initiating all the activities, making the body run around. But the soul is not doing anything. … Who am I? Am I actually awake or not?"
An ordinary man looks at a monk and pities him: he just sits there, doing nothing. Whereas I am living — building a house, marrying, divorcing, moving on, running important affairs. Śrī Prem Prayojan Prabhu turns the picture around: the saint looks at this busy man differently. The soul is there inside that person, yet the soul itself is bewildered: "who am I, what am I, I don't know." It is the ego, ahaṅkāra, that starts every activity: it makes the body run around, while the soul is not doing anything. Hence the one honest move — stop and look inside.
