"Oh God, oh God, what have I done? Shall I ever see her again? — and he weeps, wandering from kunja to kunja."
Ramananda Raya answers Mahaprabhu with the words of the Gita Govinda, from the springtime Rasa-lila. All the gopis are searching for Krishna — they find his footprints, and beside them Radhika's: "How fortunate this gopi is!" But here is what came before. At the very height of the Rasa, Radhika arrives — and sees the dance has already begun without her. Hurt, she turns and quietly leaves. And Krishna, ringed by every gopi, in front of them all, rises — and goes after the one who has gone. He whom the whole world seeks now seeks himself: from kunja to kunja, peering into every flowering bower. "Oh God, oh God, what have I done? Shall I ever see her again?" — and he weeps, truly, not for show, without any calculation — he simply cannot help it. The Lord of all, whom everyone hunts everywhere, wanders the night alone, crying for one girl of Vraja.
Call as he calls for her, and the Name will bring him to you.
