"What is dear to the one you love, you come to love twice as much. It is a kind of mathematics of love."
Mother Yashoda is nursing baby Krishna at her breast — when she sees the milk on the fire boiling over, about to spill. And she sets Krishna down and hurries to the pot. A mother lays aside her own child at the breast — for the sake of what? For milk. But from that milk she will churn paneer, thicken rabri, set the yogurt — all the sweet things so dear to Krishna. This is the mathematics of love: if you love someone, and something else is dear to them, you come to love that thing twice as much, for it gladdens the one you love. So no one goes to Krishna head-on. Love Radhika — and Krishna becomes twice beloved. And who is dearest of all to Krishna himself? Radhika again. Love Lalita, her closest friend — and the love multiplies further. This is called tadiya-sarvasva: whatever is dear to my beloved, that is my very life and soul.
Call Radha in the Name, and Krishna becomes doubly dear.
