Radhika is setting out for the yajna, and to all eyes she is modesty itself: "Out of my way, do not disturb me, I am a chaste lady, I am going to the sacrifice". But her whole design is crooked to the core: she will deliberately take the path where Krishna steps out to meet her, detains her, picks a quarrel, drags the pastime on and on — and so she will be late for the yajna. But what of the brahmins, waiting on her ghee to begin? So she sets pots of ghee upon her maidservants' heads: "Run on ahead — just in case I am delayed. One must err on the side of caution, you never know". Thus she both arranges her own tryst and keeps the sacrifice from falling through — hedged in advance. And even this foresight is that same love: she clears her own path beforehand, only to linger longer with him. And Śrī Prem Prayojan Prabhu can only marvel: "Just see — in everything she does, it is all sweet crookedness".
