"The sun I saw setting in the west is already rising in the east — but there was no night at all. Lalita, I never met with Krishna."
The night of love is nearly spent — and dawn tears them apart. While Radha and Krishna were together in the kunja, the whole forest blazed with their radiance, saturated with the beauty of their meeting. But now they separate — and the glow dies: Krishna shines no longer, and Radhika is no longer luminous as before. The beauty of the meeting is behind them, and in separation they must go home, each their own way. Krishna, weary, hurries off, slips secretly into his bed and falls asleep. But Radhika walks home — and cannot make sense of what happened. The sun she saw setting in the west is already rising in the east, yet there was no night at all — it has vanished like flowers imagined in the sky. "Lalita, what have you done? You promised to plunge me into the ocean of Krishna's love — instead you led me out and brought me back. I never met with Him." All night long she drank the nectar of his nearness, hour after hour — and still she walks home with this one thirst that nothing can quench.
Drink the Name's nectar all night and thirst for more.
