"Now Krishna is seated on that asana — which means he stands before the supreme court of the sakhis. As in a supreme court: from here there is no appeal."
After the rasa-lila Krishna suddenly disappears. The gopis weep, Radhika is ready to give up her very life — and then just as suddenly he appears again. Chandravali's sakhis rush to him: they snatch the betel from his mouth, take his remnants, Chandravali catches him by the hand. But Radharani and her sakhis stand far off — and shoot. Radhika strikes him with the arrows of her glances. Then those sakhis take off their veils — black with the kajal from their eyes, red with the kumkum from their breasts, all washed loose by the tears of separation — and spread them on the ground one upon another, higher and higher, until it makes a soft and beautiful seat. Onto this they invite Krishna to sit. He sits — and now he is in the dock of the supreme court of the sakhis. They are smiling, but it is pranaya-kopa, loving anger: for all he has just done to them, for what he put Radharani through.
Keep the Name on your lips: then he cannot slip away, however he tries.
