They went mad in separation and began to imitate His pastimes, and then they all came together. And they saw her fire: beside that conflagration their own separation looked like a firefly. There is no envy in such an admission — the gopīs felt sympathy for Rādhikā. And from the footprints in the sand they already knew: He had left them all to be alone with her. So the gopīs of Vraja themselves acknowledged that the love of Vṛṣabhānu Mahārāja's daughter is greater than their own — both in meeting and in separation.
